About this event

HONOURING THE ALUMNUS OF THE VAAL UNIVERSITY (VUT) Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme, Ms Nontobeko Moimane! That’s the Conversation Theme of the VUT Student Academic Development Support and Work-Integrated Learning Show at COMETSA Radio Worldwide (CRW), this Wednesday, the 9th of October 2024, at 18h00 - 19h00 (SAST). Nontobeko is the graduate and former participant of the VUT WIL Programme. She is currently working for the Vaal University of Technology as the Communications Officer. We will spend the first minutes of the show getting to know Nontobeko well. She will share with us her childhood upbringing, schooling and university background. We believe that this will inspire other young people from the broader South African communities to also pursue their careers through the university studies path. Her transition from high school to the university is a good story to learn from. She will share her perspective in choosing her line of studies and then joining the VUT WIL Programne. These are the decisions that we often take lightly. But they are not easy decisions to take. The VUT WIL Programme works as a shock absorber for so many of our students who find themselves having to transition to the world of work. The value of WIL and all overall work-based learning programmes is evident when the graduates finally settle in their chosen jobs and embark on the new career development journey. The foundation laid down by the WIL Programme cannot be overstated. We are keen to learn from Nontobeko’s own practical experience, now that she has transitioned to becoming a Communications Officer at the same university, Vaal University of Technology. The objective of this conversation is to enlighten the potential university and WIL students. We will go further to unpack the work environment challenges and opportunities to equip the current and future students. Lastly, we would like the show to motivate Nontobeko to forge ahead in her career. Learning is life-long journey. It does not end but starts with the acquisition of a degree and a job, and never ends.
